Director

Marcus Eriksen, PhD, Executive Director, began digging dinosaurs 30 years ago.. His school outreach programs since the 1990’s have reached 100,000’s of students throughout California. His career includes the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans, the Carnegie MNH, Los Angeles Zoo, and Los Angeles MNH. He has a PhD in Science Education studying visitor behavior and exhibit design in museums.

Anna Cummins, Director of Development and Partnerships has over 25 years experience in environmental non-profit work, education, writing, bilingual outreach, and campaign development. Anna is co-founder and Executive Director of the 5 Gyres Institute, a leading non-profit working globally to reduce plastic pollution through science, education, and advocacy.

Digital & Creative Strategist
VANESSA MORROW
Communications

At LEAP LAB, Justin applies his expertise as a digital and creative strategist, excelling in web design, graphic design, digital marketing, brand design, videography, and photography. His skills are instrumental in driving LEAP LAB's mission to deliver compelling digital narratives and strong visual identities, fostering impactful brand engagement and growth.

As Communications lead at LEAP LAB, Vanessa draws on her diverse background in fine art, illustration, and graphic design to craft meaningful visual content and campaigns. Her nature-inspired aesthetic and thoughtful approach to storytelling support LEAP LAB’s mission, building strong connections through branding, social media, community-focused design, and filming.

Chris is committed to strengthening education for Santa Paula’s children. A proud product of Santa Paula schools, he has served on local school boards, supported bond-funded projects, and volunteered with programs like FFA, school bands, and the Education Foundation. His dedication lies in ensuring resources create opportunities for every student.

Melissa brings over 15 years of nonprofit management experience, including roles at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History and the Girl Scouts of America. Her background spans classroom teaching, deep sea exploration with the Ocean Exploration Trust, and significant community involvement. She holds a BS in Biology and a teaching credential exemplifying her expertise and dedication.

Dr. Elizabeth M. Garcia is an educational leader with more than 30 years in K–12 education, including 15 years as a high school science educator and former Director of the UCLA Science Project. She served 15 years as a middle and high school principal and assistant principal. Passionate about science education, leadership, and innovation, she advances equitable, high-achieving learning communities.

John Marquez is a Ventura County civic and business leader with over 25 years of executive experience. He currently serves as Interim CEO of the Moorpark Chamber of Commerce, following seven years as Executive Director of the Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce. John also serves as Board President of the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clara Valley and is active with the Rotary Club of Santa Paula.

Fabiola is a dedicated environmental justice advocate with a passion for uplifting frontline communities and advancing equity in climate and conservation work. She currently serves as a Senior Environmental Justice Coordinator at the National Wildlife Federation, where she focuses on community-driven solutions and policy advocacy to address environmental injustices.

Jordan Howard, founder and president of ShftSpace, has a rich background advising CEOs, CMOs, politicians, and foundation officers. She's leveraging her expertise to impact narrative, art, education, venture, and real estate development, shaping her diverse legacy in these fields with her entrepreneurial spirit and innovative vision.
