LEAP LAB FARM
Where Science, Sustainability, and Discovery Grow Into Real-World Learning and Innovation.

NURTURING MINDS, ONE SEED AT A TIME
Leap Lab Farm is a living classroom where we are working to bring science, sustainability, and creativity to life. From assembling dinosaur skeletons to demonstrating ecological farming practices, we offer hands-on experiences that build community and deepen connections to the natural world.
Dino Barn

The Dino Barn is a working laboratory where we are building fossil collections for museum display, 3D-printing life-sized dinosaurs for other institutions, and engaging students in hands-on activities. Visitors experience real paleontology up close, participating in fossil preparation and restoration. It’s a unique environment where ancient life is preserved and interpreted, combining science with educational exploration to connect people of all ages to Earth’s deep history.

Demonstration Farm
Our community-based farm models sustainable agriculture and community building. We are collaborating with local families to practice farming techniques that build healthy soil and support biodiversity, while growing organic, nutritious food to be distributed to community members. At the center, a geodesic dome anchors our hexagonal garden. Part trellis, part gathering space, part geometry lesson. This volunteer-powered space invites school groups and guests to join in harvesting, seeding, and exploring eco-friendly practices like composting, crop rotation, and companion planting.
Science Exhibits - (In Progress)

We’re building an outdoor Walking Timeline of Natural History and a Model Solar System that uses art to explore the history of our planet and universe. The Walking Timeline will give visitors a tangible, visceral connection to the concept of deep time, and the Model Solar System gestures to the concept of deep space. These exhibits will offer a journey through Earth’s ancient past and the vastness of space, inspiring visitors to reflect on their place in the planet’s history, the role we all play in its future, and the interconnected story of life, time, and the cosmos.

Workshops and Special Events
Leap Lab Farm hosts a variety of hands-on workshops and creative events throughout the year, focused on sustainable living through composting, permaculture, and beekeeping workshops, some in collaboration with UCLA students. Past events have included dome-building and team-building sessions, live music gatherings, volunteer farm days, tree plantings, and communal meals that bring community members from diverse backgrounds and ages together.
Youth Programs

By private invitation, Leap Lab Farm can welcome student groups together to participate in hand on science activities, including learning farming techniques on our regenerative farm, and/or exploring real fossils in the Dino Barn. Each experience is designed to spark curiosity, build practical skills, and create lasting memories, offering students a unique and engaging connection to science, sustainability, and natural history.
